Concerns over plan for new cashpoint in Twyford

By Jon Nurse
September 25, 2012

A proposal for a cash machine outside Twyford’s Tesco Express store will go before borough planners tonight, following worries it will lead to illegal parking.

Members of Twyford Parish Council raised concerns about the machine for the shopfront of the London Road store, claiming it would increase pavement parking and parking on double yellow lines, and questioned the need for another ATM in the village.

Twyford ward member Councillor Dee Tomlin said: “I object to the following application on planning grounds. This was withdrawn by Tesco earlier as they wanted to be neighbourly.

“Now the store is open it is clear that customers are parking outside the store for shopping in the store. This is causing problems on a small, crowded High Street.

“I feel that if this application were allowed this would cause serious problems.”

Wokingham Borough Council’s planning committee is due to make a decision at its meeting at 7pm at the Shute End offices.
