A woman who bought a Range Rover on auction website eBay has launched a legal battle to get her money back after the £24,800 vehicle was repossessed in the middle of the night.
Clare Gillas, 34, of Barkham Road, successfully bid for the silver Range Rover on eBay on April 15 last year and collected it from motor trader Jhalman Rai, also known as John Rai, on the same day.
But unbeknown to her he had already sold the vehicle to another customer in February last year, according to a High Court writ.
However Mr Rai still had the Range Rover in his possession and he re-listed the item and sold it to Ms Gillas, says the writ.
Ms Gillas, who used the vehicle for seven months before it was repossessed, said: “I didn’t do an HP check on it because he had sold lots of cars before and had good feedback.
“When I got the registration details through I put personal number plates on the car and I wanted it perfect so I had lots of things done to it, because you don’t think the next day you’re not going to have it.”
