Local Elections just around the corner and I can't find anywhere online which publishes the 'manifesto' from each candidate. How do we vote if we don't know what they plan to bring to the table?

It would be nice to see a photo of the young people and the residents who arrange the litter picking in their area, and Not always a photo of those who want us to know they are still around but of course I forgot the elections are due .

Dear Get Wokingham, There are so many hot topics at the moment and it is getting increasingly difficult to find them and submit/review comments. Would it be possible to have a hot topics section that covers key items like Buckhurst Farm development, town regeneration, elms field, arborfield development, faster rail links from Wokingham, rubbish and recycling so that we can easily find them on an ongoing basis.

Today is the fifth day since the last rubbish collection and I have already filled the blue bag. The dustmen are not due until tomorrow and I have only used five average bin liners. There are only three of us and I recycle everything possible, including taking waxed cartons to the collection point at Tescos and I have a compost bin. The new blue bag is half the size of my dustbin. I t will be impossible to stick to just one bag a week but I don't see why we should have to buy extra just because whoever came up with this bright idea doesn't seem to live in the real world!

The Council is realy being less than truthful about the new arrangements for waste collection in Wokingham. Of course it is possible to provide the service at a reduced cost if the service itself is reduced. We have gone from the ability to put out 1 or 2 dustbins to a ration of 1.5 small plastic bags per week, which together do not hold as much as one normal dustbin. We are told that the intention is to increase recycling, but that they will no longer collect food and juices containers (Tetrapak) which are clearly marked as recyclable, these now become part of the landfill. And our free green waste collection has disappeared completely. The question we should be asking is why, with this very reduced service, the council can ONLY save £1 million? Particularly as these savings make it more difficult for citizens to do the right thing and increase the probability of fly-tipping and littering. - David , Woosehill

Heathrow Airport - aircraft noise: I recorded significant increase in aircraft numbers over Wokingham over the past two weeks. Whilst a certain amount is inevitable given the times and location, there is a concern that distribution patterns have been changed to be less than fair to the locl area. Heathrow Airport just offers platitudes and it would be good if Wokingham Times could investigate if take-off/ landing patterns have been changed to impact Wokingham residents.

With regard to the 'need' to build many more houses in Wokingham: when we had a Labour government I felt that we were being forced to have this development, against the wishes of our local council, who could do nothing about it. Since the Con/Lib alliance nothing has changed. Am I alone in feeling misled? Not to mention disgusted that my elected councillors have no apparent concern for the feelings of their voters, nor for the need to be 'conservative' with regard to what's left of the beauty that surrounds us?    I was pleased to read your readers comments about the lack of toilet facilities in Wokingham. What can the Council have been thinkiing of ? Aa a visitor I found it difficult to believe whne asking about the nearest public toilet. It was not obvious which shop/restuarant was allowing strangers in to share their facilities. As a colostomate we need disabled toilet facilities offering clean water, privacy and disposal facilities. Where are they in such a town as Wokingham ? What about Mothers and small children. What a short sighted policy the Council has - no doubt all living or working within easy reach of a toilet ! Whatever monies were hoped to be saved by removing this important factor will be far less than the shoppers and visitors that choose to go elswhere.

I understand that there were many protests - I think we have a situation where (once again) those that work for us do not listen to us. WE know what to do when it is Council election time.,

I like the look and feel of the site, but when I was looking at your sport section you only have sections for Football, Ice Hockey and Rugby. Whereas the physical news paper has some great coverage for many other sports that the local people are nationally and internationally very successful at. Why not add some more sports to the sections to ease site navigation and recognise local winners. Eg Trampoline, Judo, Gymnastics etc ? Just a viewpoint from a loyal reader.....
