Viral video: Best moments of a Savage career

Robbie Savage has always been a controversial character throughout his career as a professional footballer. Catching the limelight for sometimes the ‘wrong’ reasons, Savage’s defensive style has tended to wind his opponents up over the years.

Within a career marred with controversy, Savage jointly holds the Premiership record of being shown the most yellow cards, 89 on par with Lee Bowyer. Playing for seven different clubs over a career that began in the early 90’s, Savage has picked up the admiration and hate of many teams, predominantly the latter.

Savage's antics have ranged from simulation, trying to get opponents into trouble, to using the referee’s toilet before a match, an incident in which the former Leicester player was fined £10, 000 and docked two weeks wages.

Savage has certainly made his mark on the game and now playing for The Rams, Derby County, Savage has taken up punditry, something he is perhaps looking to peruse as his career winds down.

Whilst commentating for BBC Radio 5 live Savage was hit by what he calls a ‘40,000 to 1’ shot. Along with various other classic Savage moments the video below includes the audio footage of the incident along with the aftermath and reaction from his team mates at Derby County.
