Have your say and nominate for the 2012 Wokingham Sports Awards

The Wokingham Times has once again teamed up with the Wokingham Borough Sports Council to allow our readers the chance to nominate a local sportsperson to be recognised in the 2012 sports awards.

The awards celebrate the schools, clubs, teams and people who have made the most telling contribution to sport in the borough.

There are 18 categories of awards open for nomination and they are:

Sportsperson of the Year (Under-14 Boys/Girls, Under-18 Boys/Girls, Senior Men, Senior Lady): Someone who has achieved sporting excellence at international, national or regional level

Best Primary/Secondary School: Someone who has contributed to sporting excellence at international, national or regional level, community involvement as well as participation and opportunity rates

Service to Sport in the Community (Individual and Club): Awarded for contribution to sports activities that benefit the community as a whole, improve facilities or develop structures

Coach of the Year: A leader who has set an example to others

Volunteer of the Year: Someone who has made a real difference

Fair Play Award: For the epitome of sportsmanship

Service to Disabled Sport: For either sporting achievement or contributution to the enhancement of disabled sport

Team Award: For extraordinary achievements

Excellence in Sport: For truly outstanding achievements

Courage Award: Succeeding in the face of adversity

Spirit of Sport: Demonstration of the Olympic values of courage, friendship and determination

To nominate someone, simply download and fill out this form and email it to sportsdevelopment@wokingham.gov.uk

Alternatively, visit the Wokingham Borough Sports Council website or pick up a copy of this week's Wokingham Times to find an entry form.

Nominations close on October 12.
