Wokingham & Bearwood Riding Club were left to celebrate after achieving some tremendous placings at the annual Area 6 Showjumping Qualifier at Wellington Riding earlier this month.
WBRC were the host club and, thanks to enormous help and support from members, as well as rival clubs including Thames Valley, High Wycombe and Hawley, the event ran smoothly and was a huge success.
Each challenging showjumping course at differing heights was either a qualifier for the British Riding Club National Championships at Lincoln or a qualifier for the London & South East Championships later this year.
WBRC took the red rosette for first place in both the Junior & Senior Novice classes.
The Junior Novice team included Sophie Shaw riding Purita, Charlotte Clift riding Ebony, Sophie White riding Bobbi’s Wright and Claudia Prentice riding Rockafella Lad.
In addition to the team’s success, Clift was placed third individually, with Shaw fifth.
The Senior Novice red team consisted of Sarah Gee riding Smokey Joe, Kelly McCarthy-Maine riding Lola Rose, Claire Demonte riding Millie and Serena Bowe riding Drakiro Gii.
Individually, Gee’s performance saw her qualify for the London & South East Champs, while McCarthy-Maine was placed third.
In the novice class, the WBRC Senior white team placed fourth and the blue team sixth.
WBRC took another red rosette for top spot in the Senior Intermediate class.
The blue team consisted of Sarah Compson riding Miss Dynamite, Lauren Innes riding Lawns Odds On, Sophie Royall riding Grace and Jackie Jenkins riding J’s Just James.
Royall was also placed first individually in the competition, while Compson was third.
In the Intermediate class, the WBRC Senior white team finished fourth.
In the Senior Style competition, where riders are judged on their jumping technique and presentation, the WBRC team finished second.
They were Sarah Thomas riding Davidoff, Gemma Sayer riding Boleybawn Jack, James Tuner riding Drakiro Gii and Ali Phillips riding My Cavan Lad.
Individually, Sayer and Boleybawn Jack were placed fifth.
WBRC run numerous competitions, training clinics, fun rides and social gatherings throughout the year and always welcome new members, both riding and non-riding.
