Bracknell’s derby delight

September 25, 2008

Bracknell Men's 6 Wokingham Men's 6-2.

Wokingham began their 2008/09 preparation in disappointing fashion as they were comfortably beaten by near neighbours Bracknell.

A weakened Wokingham team looked to shake away the cobwebs of the closed season, but found  Bracknell to be more organised, despite a change in their formation.

The first half started brightly for Bracknell with long periods of possession with some patient build play, although goalie Carl Eatwell was called into action to keep the score level.

However, Sean Hardingham and Paul Kaplanski both scored to ease the pressure for Bracknell, but Wokingham hit back just before half time with an excellent strike from Dom Tallent.

Wokingham’s lack of match practice showed in the second half, as Bracknell gradually began to take control, and although Wokingham fought back, with Tallent scoring again before having an excellent chance for a third, the result was put beyond doubt.

Two goals from Kaplansky saw him seal his hat-trick, while Duncan Wiggett also netted twice to give Bracknell the victory.

— Wokingham Vets were brought crashing back down to earth this weekend as they were hit for six by Tadley.

The first half was fairly even, with the Vets keeping a younger Tadley side to 1-0 at half-time, only due to a defensive mix-up.

In the second half, further defensive blunders and a backfired tactical change consigned the Vets to a heavy 6-0 defeat.
