BRACKNELL GIRLS GIVE EVERYTHING BUT ARE BEATEN

12/ 4/2002

This year saw Bracknell win the regional league without losing a match, and yet again they drew East Grinstead in the quarter finals.

East Grinstead provided strong opposition and despite Bracknell's early pressure, they went ahead from a well worked short corner.

Bracknell attacked in numbers but could not penetrate the East Grinstead backline. They fell further behind when East Grinstead struck on the counter attack.

With a huge effort in the second half Bracknell went 4-0 down with five minutes to go.

They did win a penalty flick which was unfortunately saved, but justice prevailed at last when Hayley Buckland converted another flick in the final minutes.

There were some excellent performances from all the Bracknell girls who must be congratulated on an excellent season.

Bracknell Hockey Club are holding summer training on Friday and then every Wednesday evening for all juniors between 11 and 18-years-old. The sessions take place between 6.30pm and 8pm, and for more details contact Nick Jones on 07736 830053.
