Ben Nowak: Bracknell will take game to BarnesBy Steve Williams
April 24, 2009
Bracknell are at full strength for their visit to Barnes tomorrow for their Level 5 play-off match.
Barnes, the London 1 runners-up, are coached by two former Bracknell players Carson Russell and James Turner, who have done a fine job as their charges have won their last 14 games and have not been beaten since November 8.
But Bracknell skipper Ben Nowak knows his side poses a threat to anyone after they finished as South West Division 1’s leading try scorers.
He said: “We’re going into it with the belief we can do it – we are on a good run of form.
“We want to play at a high tempo and take it to them from the beginning.”
Nowak will remind his squad how much it hurt when they lost in last season’s play-offs.
But he said: “We’re taking a stronger squad than last year and we’re ready to go.”
BRACKNELL: Higgins; Mckay, Jones, Nowak, Shears; Manupenu, Ap-Dafydd; Mirza, Sheldon, Van Zyl; Hill, Borcherds; Simpoias, Aiona, Maybury. Reps: Muggridge, Sheasby, Budge, Leishman
* There's £10,000 at stake at Monks Lane tomorrow when Ross Noonan leads Newbury Blues out for their final National Division 1 match of the season against another relegated side Sedgley Park (3pm).
Park are three points ahead of Blues and in line to pick up the £25,000 parachute payment for finishing 13th, so a win is vital for Blues who would have to settle for £15,000.
