Reading took a massive step towards the South West 2 East promotion play-offs.

Reading must now beat Wallingford on Saturday week to ensure their place in the play-offs against the runners-up of South West 2 West.

They moved second in the table, leap-frogging Bournemouth, who lost 24-16 to Weston-super-Mare.

Shire Hall paid the price for missing first-half scoring opportunities at Red Lane, where the home side bossed the second 40 minutes of this BB&O 1 South clash.

Skipper Tom Brown commented:  “If we had a bit more pace out wide we would probably have scored in the first half. But at least the lads kept going.”
