Chances go begging as Bracknell miss promotion

Worthing 18 Bracknell 5

Bracknell Rugby Club narrowly missed out on promotion to the National League after play-off defeat at Worthing.

The men from Lily Hill produced a gargantuan effort against the favourites, but some missed chances in the second half, followed by some quick scoring from the home side, ended Bracknell's dream of promotion.

Worthing took a 7-0 lead, but Bracknell fought back with a try from Ben Coulson.

However, a penalty gave Worthing a 10-5 lead at half time.

Bracknell dominated after the break but saw numerous chances go begging, and Worthing took advantage with a penalty and then a try to take an 18-5 lead which they would hold until the end of the game.

Full match report and more in this Wednesday's Wokingham Times and Thursday's Bracknell Forest Standard.
