Barnham joins London Irish on loan as injury cover

Finlay Barnham has joined London Irish on loan from Nottingham as short-term cover for injured scrum-halves Tomas O'Leary and Jack Moates.

The 22-year-old will be on the bench for Sunday's LV= Cup match against Leicester Tigers, where he started his career as an Academy player.

Barnham, who represented England at Under-16 level, is well known to Exiles' forward coach Glenn Delaney.

He was Nottingham's captain for their British and Irish Cup games last season and signed a two-year deal with the Championship club in May, a month before Delaney quit as their director of rugby to rejoin Irish.

Delaney said at the time: "He's come a long way in two years, developing into a great character, solid player and an impressive leader.

"The personality he has, the banter he provides and attitude he brings to everything he does fits the bill."

Barnham will provide back-up for Irish's starting No. 9 Darren Allinson this Sunday and possibly in their Aviva Premiership game at home to Exeter Chiefs on November 25 if neither Moates nor O'Leary recover in time.
