London Irish have appointed Billy Clark, the RFU's former age grade competitions manager, as their new Academy boss.

He takes over from Neal Hatley, who has moved to Bath as their new forwards coach.

Clark has previously worked as rugby development officer at Leicester, sports development officer in the borough of Richmond, and more recently Gloucester's junior academy manager.

He said: “I aim to develop the exceptional talent that is already within the Academy and EPDG programme as well as actively recruit the best players in Hampshire and Berkshire."

Exiles director of rugby Brian Smith said: “I worked with Billy at the RFU and I’ve been very impressed with the job he has done at Gloucester.

"He will run our whole Academy programme and be responsible for recruiting and continuing to produce prodigious talent from our Academy.”
