London Irish move for Blaney
May 17, 2010
London Irish are lining up former Leinster hooker Brian Blaney as a replacement for Danie Coetzee.
The 28-year-old ex-Ireland A forward fulfilled the dual role of player and strength and conditioning coach for Terenure College last season.
His brother James is currently player-assistant coach at the Dublin-based club.
Blaney played 71 games for Leinster, scoring 25 points before being released by the Magners League club last summer.
Exiles have been searching for a third hooker since former South Africa international Coetzee announced last November that he intended returning to his family home in the Transvaal at the end of the season.
London Irish have high hopes for England Saxons hooker David Paice, while the experienced James Buckland looked impressive before being ruled out of the final three games of the season due to a broken thumb.
