Adam Bicknell returns to Bracknell Bees
December 07, 2009
Former Bracknell Bees player/coach Adam Bicknell has signed for the club for the remainder of the 2009/10 EPIHL season and made his first appearance in last night's 2-1 win at Romford Raiders.
Bicknell took a break from ice hockey at the end of last season, but after training regulalrly with the Bees over the last couple of months, he has now decided to return to competitive action on the ice.
The 29-year old originally joined the Bees from local rivals the Slough Jets in 2005 and went on to captain the team through one of it’s most successful periods, lifting the League and Play-Off Champions trophies in 2006/07 and the League Cup in 2007/08.
Last season, in 51 games as Bees’ player/coach, Adam scored 10 goals and had 25 assists in 51 matches, steering the team to fifth place in the league, the cup semi-finals and play-off quarter-finals.
Bees’ player/coach Coach Claude Dumas is particularly pleased with the team's latest signing.
"Adam is an excellent forward and we know that he was attracting interest from some of our other EPIHL rivals, who were keen to sign him," he said.
"He is a natural leader and will bring valuable experience to the team as we prepare to push on positively in the second half of the season.
"He is well-known and respected by the team and staff and we are lucky that he has been training with us recently, so has easily been able to integrate into the superb spirit in the dressing room."
