‘Bees needed a change,’ says House

Bracknell Bees are beginning to see the benefit of the enforced change the club underwent over the summer, according to forward Danny House.

When Bees Ice Management Ltd (BIML) announced their decision not to apply for a new operating licence earlier this year, the club’s future was thrown into disarray.

Without a head coach and with the players leaving in their droves, it was a dark time for Bracknell Bees.

But when BIML had a change of heart, backed with pledges from the club’s fans, they managed to get a team out on the ice for the new season.

And although Bees, led by new player/coach Claude Dumas, had a rather awful start to the season, they have now begun to put in the kind of performances that have made the club a mainstay in the British leagues for the last 20 years.

And Bracknell boy House, one of only three players who re-signed for Bees from last season, believes the club is beginning to profit from the change of personnel.

“It’s nice to have a bit of a turnaround after we had a bit of a slump.

“Thing’s are starting to go right for us and everyone’s playing well, are  upbeat and having fun – we’ve turned a corner definitely.

“There were a lot of the same faces around last season and it was good to have a change.

“Obviously we struggled a bit, but the guys who have come in to replace them are just as good.

“We’ve still got the loud guys in the room and the mood is still good so everything’s cool.

“Bracknell has a great team spirit and that’s what gets us through.”

Bees made it three wins from four games when they defeated in-form Sheffield Scimitars 6-3 at the Hive on Saturday night.

However, all their good work effectively meant nothing as they fell to bottom-of-the-table Romford Raiders  6-3 on Sunday evening.

They will be hoping to put that right, however, this weekend, with a double header against local rivals Slough Jets.

Jets profited most from the exodus at Bracknell, taking six players and bench coach Peter Russell.

Bees travel to the Hanger on Saturday (6.30pm face-off) before the return fixture on Sunday (6pm face-off).
