Bees sign D-man Moore

July 15, 2009

Bracknell Bees have signed ex-Swindon Wildcats defenceman Shane Moore for the 2009/10 English Premier Ice Hockey League (EPIHL) season.

Swindon-born Moore, 22, has played in the EPIHL for seven seasons for his hometown team, as well as picking up valuable Elite League experience with the Basingstoke Bison.

Moore has also been selected to represent the GB National team on four occasions in the World Junior Championships at both U18 and U20 levels.

Head coach Claude Dumas is pleased with his latest recruit.

"I'm very happy that Shane Moore as agreed to join us this coming season," said Dumas.

"Shane is a steady defender that does not mind to play a physical game when needed.

"He makes sure that he plays the basics very well and I expect Shane to be a strong asset for us."

Moore came under criticism last season from former Bees coach Adam Bicknell when the defenceman was involved in a bust up with then Bees forward Tom Duggan.

During a fight on the ice between the pair, Duggan fell and dislocated his shoulder, although Bicknell's remarks concerned a huge sovereign ring Moore was sporting at the time.
