KEMPTON PARK racecourse looks forward to welcoming back the stars of Jump racing to the turf track when it hosts the annual Starlight Charity Race Day on Monday November 21 with a card of seven action-packed races for fans to enjoy.
The Starlight Charity Race Day is a special yearly event focused on raising money for Starlight Children’s Foundation (www.starlight.org.uk), which brightens the lives of seriously and terminally ill children by granting them once-in-a-lifetime wishes and providing entertainment in children’s wards across the country.
Starlight will be hosting a fundraising lunch at the racecourse where guests can bid on some fabulous auction prizes including two super VIP tickets to the semi final of X Factor, a round of golf for four at Wentworth Golf Club and VIP badges and lunch for four in the Royal Box at Kempton on Boxing Day to watch the King George VI Chase.
The highlight of the day’s racing action on Monday will be the Mares Hurdle Race, a listed race run over three miles and half a furlong, won last year by the Nicky Henderson trained Carole’s Legacy and ridden by Barry Geraghty. Henderson and Geraghty teamed up to win three races in last year's event and they will be hoping that the stable can repeat their winning ways.
For the general public the day will be a great chance to experience what goes on behind the scenes on a race day.
Managing director Amy Starkey said: “The Starlight Charity Race Day is an important event in the Jumps season at Kempton Park. We are delighted to host this special day and help raise money for a very worthwhile charity."
