Reading FC need 'all guns blazing' against Fulham

By Jonny Fordham
October 25, 2012

Mikele Leigertwood has pleaded for patience and assured loyal Royals that things will come together soon.

However, the midfielder also knows that Reading can’t carry on blaming their poor form on their slow start to the season.

With seven games gone and three points to show, Reading have become certain relegation favourites by everyone outside of Berkshire.

It is this kind of attitude that makes Royals even more determined to succeed after failing to come away from Liverpool with any points.

Leigertwood said: “We want to get out there as soon as possible and try and pick up a win.

“It’s still early days, but we can’t keep saying that – we’ve got a home game on Saturday and we have to make it count.

“We come to these places and we’ve got to give a good account of ourselves.

“For parts of the second half last Saturday we did that and probably should have got a goal.

“We’ve got to do better.

“We’ve been patient long enough.

“I think, we’ve got to go out next game all guns blazing and try and get something.”

That game comes in the form of Fulham at Madejski Stadium (3pm kick-off).

Martin Jol’s eight-placed side have picked up four points away from home so far this season.

They were criticised last year for their poor results on the road and have already lost twice in their first four away fixtures in the 2012/13 campaign.

Leigertwood will be hoping to compound yet further misery on the Londoners.

And he will most likely be part of a what will be a different midfield line-up due to the knee injury suffered by 23-year-old Jem Karacan.

But Leigertwood said: “He had a nasty injury last year and I know more than anything what this type of injury is like – I’ve had it a couple of times.

“Jem is a pretty good healer, so hopefully he will be back in action for us sooner rather than later.”

Fully agree with Sponge Pants in that we haven't played any games against the teams around us and have played a game less than most. The table doesn't look great at the moment, but now is the time to back the team rather than moan that we aren't good enough. Being promoted is always going to be a struggle, but at least we aren't leaking goals like Southampton. It will be a tough season, but we aren't playing that badly and have some winable games over the next few weeks.

Lets be honest here. How many teams have we played where you expect us to win?. You have to look at it as a mini league at the bottom. Look at Southampton, they have dropped points to Wigan Fulham and West Ham. We have not really had any of those easier games yet. First one is Fulham.

Maybe but then maybe not as time will tell. How much time has McDermott got? The current trend indicates we will fininsh the season on 16 points. On a positive note that will beat Derby's lowest points tally when relegated from Premiership with just 11 points Season 2007/8. Emm some consolation. Sort it quickly and I mean nowwwwwwww

Im fully behind the team and Brian McDermott, on-one expected us to be where we are so just enjoy it!

Simple facts are Brian McDermott is the best manager in Reading's history, yes I said it better than Steve Coppell Anyone who moans about the team needs a reality check.

URZZZZZ!!
