August 30, 2012

The transfer deadline day scramble to sign players before the transfer window slams shut on Friday night has begun.

Managers like Reading FC's Brian McDermott are desperately trying to bring in new faces before the deadline at 11pm.

Once it closes, clubs are not able to sign players again until January.

Keep track of the comings and goings at Reading FC and other clubs around the country in our transfer window live blog, starting at 7am on Friday.

golly we were busy on deadline day! Most fellow delegation contenders added well to their squads. We seem to have an over confidence in ourselves. yes only two games in but I think we were a bit complacent.

This run without a game has been silly. 4 tough games coming up. got to get results at home.

Liven up guys, we've played two tough games, got a point and should had more. I'm convinced that we would had got 3 points at Sunderland, but that's where we are.

The new signings have all settled in, Pog looks a dead cert to be our top scorer, Guthrie is looking like a very very good signing, McLeary is a going to keep Kebe on the sidelines, Gunter will keep the rightback slot this season and Mariappa is still to make his bow. Plus we still have Kaspars, Fedders/McCarthy, Leigertwood and Alfie.

Only surprise from last night was that Church didn't get the opportunity to go out on loan somewhere.

Chill guys, in Brian we must trust.

QPR signed a load of players then got tonked 0 - 5 at home on day one! They've now spent even more to try and sort it all out. Still no guarantee that the team will gel though. Once Fedders gets back to form and we get a clean sheet or two, things might look a bit rosier in the Royals garden. Too early to panic, but I didn't like the showing against Peterborough though, leaking another two goals. Trust in McD - he and Hammond may yet have a trick or two up their sleeves.

If you look at the players signed by teams such as West Ham QPR Fulham then yes Reading may well struggle ,but look at what Southampton, Norwich, Wigan Aston Villa and even Liverpool did on the last day then Reading are just as likely to achieve a reasonable position spending money does not assure safety Team Spirit goes a lot further.

How is it that at the start if the season everyone said what Great signings, two games in causing plenty of attacking football, causing problems for Chelsea, all of a sudden we make not signings in the transfer window......now we are rubbish and going down????

My God WAKE UP!!!!!

As usual Reading FC have shown a lack of ambition in the transfer market. The new owner talking of Getting into Europe? The only way that will happen is on Easyjet!

We will score fewer goals than anyone else in the PL, in January decent strikers will cost double. Championship here we come!

without the takeover mate no promotion anyway. We might have made a big mistake in not signing enough. other relegation candidates have splashed the cash and whilst that guarantees nothing at least they have added in most cases reasonable cover. we on the other hand have little.

Maybe the take over was not too good a thing after all !! Mc D Going to have to work hard to keep this team up. We know he will try, But !!!

if we do not make any new signings this window. panic signings in Jan what will we be able to get then? Have to spend big which will be risky with a possible return to the championship likely.. We must do all we can ro stay up because returning will be so hard and painful!

if we have injuries to key players the cover is not up to it and will result in relegation.

surely a loan signing or two is needed. I cannot believe that after all the hard work put in by the club we will be so complacent.

It seems like every other club is spending cash except Reading. If we go down we all know who to blame.

We need another goal scorer, Mr Owen would be worth a short term contract.

looks like we are still sitting with a silly smug grin and will do nothing today .. I fear a mistake. leaving a lot to chance. Jan window will be very hard if we are struggling. lack quality in depth big time.

Hopeful Hoops - I fear that you are living up to your name there. It's early doors but there is little quality showing.

Thanks RBC Traffic Management are Useless, Calcot (if that really is your name) I have read as you suggested. It all seems very complicatated and why shouldn't these "agents" be allowed to work all year round? Are they now all 'part-time'? Seems a bit daft to a non-football follower yet casual observer.

Hopefully Hoops "If we really do need anyone, there are some cracking players without a club currently and the loan market doesn't close today either." For premier leagiue clubs, all busisness (loan or buys) has to be completed by 23:00 tonight; reopens 00:01 1/1/13. Championship and below can loan inbetween these dates.
