Reading are interested in Queens Park Rangers right-back Luke Young.
Royals are keen to bolster their defence and are also still keen on the former England international's team-mate Matthew Connolly, who spent a loan spell at Madejski Stadium last season.
Young played 23 times for QPR last term, but the 32-year-old has been told by manager Mark Hughes he is now surplus to requirements at Loftus Road.
Reading also maintain an interest in Nottingham Forest full-back Chris Gunter, but the Championship side are playing hardball.
And, with a proposed takeover rumbling on at the City Ground, Royals could find it hard to capture the Wales international.
