Brian McDermott battles for Robert Koren

Robert Koren is at the centre of a tug-of-war between Reading and Leicester City.

The former West Bromwich Albion midfielder is said to be keen to leave Hull City after two seasons at the club.

Koren has one year left on his contract, but would relish a return to the Premier League.

Royals boss Brian McDermott is a long-time admirer of the former Slovenia captain.

However, Leicester manager Nigel Pearson knows Koren well from when he was in charge at Hull and would be able to guarantee the 30-year-old more game time in the Championship.

Hull’s new boss Steve Bruce will no doubt be keen to speak to Koren when the club return to pre-season training.

But he faces a fight to keep hold of him in the light of Reading’s interest and unconfirmed reports of a £500,000 bid from Leicester.
