Reading boss Brian McDermott is off to watch MK Dons against Huddersfield in the League One play-off semi-finals before travelling to see Wigan against Wolves on the final day of the Premier League season on Sunday.

On loan Royals centre-back Sean Morrison is set to play for the Terriers alongside in-demand Jordan Rhodes, who has scored an incredible 38 goals in 43 appearances this season.

Rhodes has previously been linked with a switch to Madejski Stadium.

“I’m sure most clubs in the Premier League will be looking at him,” added a guarded McDermott when asked if he was interested in the 22-year-old striker.

Tough-tackling Valenciennes midfielder Carlos Sanchez and Newcastle’s Danny Guthrie are rumoured to be targets.

Out-of-contract Sanchez, a 26-year-old Columbia international, is also wanted by Serie A sides Udinese and Genoa, while ex-Liverpool midfielder Guthrie has rejected a contract extension at Newcastle as he seeks guaranteed first-team football.

I think his No 1 task is to have a good look at Rhodes. Mcdermotts secondary mission will be Morrison as he has been receiving regular reports on his progress.

I suspect he is looking at how Morrison is coming on rather than Jordan Rhodes - Makes a good headline though :-)
