By Jonny Fordham
May 09, 2012

Reading are chasing Valenciennes' Columbia international Carlos Sanchez who is out of contract this summer.

Manager Brian McDermott faces a fight to land the defensive midfielder from both Udinese and Genoa according to reports, but has been chasing the tough-tackling 26-year-old for some time.

Royals are also said to be interested in Newcastle United's soon-to-be free agent Danny Guthrie as McDermott plans for Premier League football next season.

   Kieren,

Guthrie played for Newcastle in the Championship and hardly featured last season, so what makes you think he wont come to a newly promoted side? I'm sure regular football in the PL would be enough.

As for the takeover, it's being held up because the investors want to remain anonymous, and the PL want to know who they are. Otherwise it's all good.

Anton has been in Miami with his wife for a week on holiday and is expected back soon and will no doubt want this hurried up so as not to hold up any potential transfers.

another random player no-one has heard of.... McDermott is always skilled at those - Doyle, Hunt, Long

Guthrie is a strange one... i would say he would not come to reading... he would want a guaranteed mid table team... and we cant give him that

Sanchez is nicknamed 'The Rock', and for that reason I'm in!

Guthrie is just paper talk Jonny has picked up from the red tops.

Guthrie is decidely average I cannot see where he will offer us anything extra to what we already have got.

IIRC he doesn't score many goals either

Never heard of Sanchez but I trust McDermott!

Guthrie is a good player, be suprised to see him join us?! I think he could do a job for a more established team in the PL, a team like Everton or Fulham.
