Brian McDermott is already planning for life in the Premier League as he jetted off to Denmark on a scouting mission this week.
McDermott was absent from training at Hogwood Park yesterday as Royals returned to prepare for their final league game of the season away to Birmingham City on Saturday (12.30pm kick-off).
Reading drew 2-2 with Crystal Palace at Madejski Stadium on Saturday and were confirmed league champions when title rivals Southampton lost 2-1 at Middlesbrough later in the day.
And Royals will be able to get their hands on the Championship trophy during a celebratory parade on Sunday.
Although most of the town is in party mood, McDermott is busy running the rule over new recruits as he prepares for life in the top flight.
Royals boss reportedly watched Odense versus Aarhus in the Danish Super League on Monday.
A whole host of names at home and abroad are already being linked with moves to Reading as Russian multi-millionaire Anton Zingarevich closes in on a £25million buyout for 51 per cent of Sir John Madejski’s shares in the club.
Crystal Palace striker Wilfried Zaha, who scored against Royals in their 2-2 draw on Saturday, has been named as a target in a possible £8million double swoop with Eagles right-back Nathaniel Clyne.
Chelsea left-back Ryan Bertrand, who spent the 2009/10 season on loan at Madejski Stadium, has also been linked with Royals.
But it is unlikely the Blues would let the former England Under-21 star leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
