Andy Griffin joins Reading FC

By Matthew Sadler
July 01, 2010

Reading have announced the signing of long-term target Andy Griffin from Stoke City.

The 31-year-old has signed a two-year deal with the club after Royals agreed a nominal fee with the Premier League side.

Griffin was at Hogwood today for the start of pre-season training with his new team-mates.

The right-back made a big impression at Madejski Stadium after he joined on loan in January, making 24 appearances in all competitions.

How about signing Joe Cole? If we get Reading fans everywhere to give just two pounds a week, that might cover his wages...

Hmmmm, dunno. He'll be 32 next season, played well for a contract whilst on loan (a-la Johnny Salad), is a bit small, doesn't really want to live down south, was binned by a minor Prem Club, is going grey, isn't really challenging Glenn Johnson for a starting position yet. Could be a bit of a gamble/liability....

   What a difference year makes!

This time last year we were selling off the crown jules and anything else that was not bolted down!!

Now were keeping together the team that finnish the season in such style last year.

Lets just hope they start of season like they did last year!

I just think we could still do with another Centre Back tough as we only have 3 specialized centre backs in Millls, Ingi & Pearce. I know Cisse & Gunner can cover there too but reallly you should have at least 4 out n out CB.

Maybe if Cisse +wages went, it would make room for Zurab??
