We don’t need to sell any more, says Royals boss

Brendan Rodgers has assured Reading fans that he is under no pressure to sell any star players in the January transfer window.
It was feared that the Royals boss would have to put Marek Matejovsky or Jem Karacan up for sale to balance the books at Madejski Stadium.
But Rodgers has told loyal Royals that isn’t the case.
“From now on I don’t need to lose anyone. I don’t, and that’s the key,” he said.
“In the summer the club had no choice, the financial situation had become difficult for the first time in 10 years.
“The overdraft facility was called in and the banks were closing in, so the business in the summer had to be done.
“But now there is a choice. I don’t need to lose anyone that I don’t want to. I’m trying to build a squad for next season to be competitive and then have a right go next season.
“That doesn’t quash any ambitions for this season. It just means it’s a case of finding the dynamics of the group and then we can take a leap forward.”
Out-of-favour striker David Mooney could be moved on, though.
Mooney, on loan at Phil Parkinson’s Charlton Athletic until December 28, has admitted he would look at moving to The Valley on a permanent deal if he was given the opportunity.
He said: “I’m not playing at Reading so if Charlton want to sign me, then I’d talk it through with my family.”
