Reading FC v Blackpool - fan's verdict

By Joe Pickover

Finally, at long last, Reading have put their first home win of the season on the board!

We made the brighter start of the two teams with a decent shot by Jobi Mcanuff, saved well by Blackpool’s Matt Gilks. Blackpool steadily grew stronger as the game went on proving why they are so well placed in the league standings.

Federici looked solid for the Royals, most notably planting himself firmly behind a shot from Charlie Adam early in the second half.

Brendan Rodgers has had some of the pressure lifted from his shoulders with the result moving us clear of the relegation zone. Blackpool will feel the result was a little unjustified but in the end they were made to pay for too many missed chances.

The jubilant fans were elated after the game and had every right to be. After the players left the field Brendan Rodgers came out to show his support to all the loyal Royals who had kept backing him.

This was a great result for us but there are still many areas we need to improve on if we are to start climbing the table. Most notably we need to improve on set pieces.

Time after time against Blackpool on Saturday, whether it was a free kick or a corner, the Royals’ inability to find that final killer ball was a prominent factor.

We also squandered too many chances in front of goal and the front men desperately need to start firing.

Brendan Rodgers will be elated with his first league win at the Madejski, but will also look to improve on many areas of his team’s performance against Blackpool.

i thought they were all very good but for me i'd give it to rasiak as he was the one that scored the goal that got the monkey of our backs and for that reason only, but JB was brilliant

Job did very well, but Rasiaks excellent goal won us the match. It is a fair choice although Jobi would have been my shout.
