Liam Rosenior has no love for Reading FC

Liam Rosenior has hit out at the way his Reading career ended, insisting he couldn’t care less if his old club did well this season.
The 26-year-old on-loan right-back is allowed to play for Ipswich Town at Madejski Stadium tomorrow (3pm kick-off) after Royals had initially hoped he would sign on at Portman Road on a permanent deal before the transfer deadline.
However, the former England Under-21 international, who is out of contract this summer, had a change of heart at the last minute and joined Roy Keane’s side on loan to keep his options open, with Royals receiving around £200,000 as a loan fee.
It was anticipated that Rosenior would get a good reception on his Madejski Stadium return, but his frank admissions before the game could see him become an easy target for the boo-boys.
“I can’t say I had two great years there because I didn’t,” admitted Rosenior.
“I don’t want to pretend I want them to do well, because I don’t. I haven’t spoken to any Reading players, a lot of them are good friends of mine, but what’s the point in speaking to them before the game?
“After the game I’ll be friends with them again, but before the game I’m not going to talk to them, it’s not important.
“My contract’s up and I’m not going to be there next season. I’m disappointed [with the way things have gone].”
Rosenior joined the club from Fulham in a swap deal that saw South Korea winger Seol Ki-Hyeon move the other way in August 2007.
And the Londoner also hit-out at the financial cost-cutting and what he felt was an apparent change of ambition at the Madejski Stadium this summer as the main reasons for his departure.
He continued: “Financial matters took over. I was signed as a Premier League player and my wages were probably a bit higher than others.
“Maybe people thought I wasn’t worth that or maybe they wanted to give younger players a try. I don’t know, but I’ve got no problem with it.
“Maybe Brendan Rodgers looked at the budget and saw an opportunity to move me on, so he could bring two or three new players to the club.
“Ipswich have spent nearly £10 million on players, Reading have sold nearly £10 million. That tells you everything you need to know.
“It’s the easy option for people to look at the quality they’ve lost, the likes of Kevin Doyle, James Harper and Stephen Hunt, and I’d like to think myself as well.
“But they haven’t won at home since January. That tells you everything you need to know about why they’re in the position they’re in. But Brendan has brought his own players in now.”
Rosenior's career has been rejuvenated at Portman Road and he has started every game since linking up with Roy Keane and scored once.

Sounds like he's been stitched up to make the article sound a lot worse than it actually is. Where does he have a go at anyone in that article exactly? He has been relegated & failed to win promotion in the last 2 seasons, I very much doubt it was enjoyable!!!!
I quite like him & I was sad to see him leave. Best player on the pitch today & just shows how far the penny pinching has gone.
Good luck to you Liam. Always wore his heart on his sleeve & was one of our stand out performers at the beginning of last season. Some fans are very fickle.

The boos clearly fired Rosenior up and he had a fantastic game. Indeed he save the match for Ipswich on at least two occasions. First with a great saving tackle on Church as he went to pull the trigger from about 15 yards out. Then when he cleared a header off the line. He also set up a fantastic opportunity on a plate for Priskin. Meantime, thanks to our Chairman's desire to save Rosenior's wages, we had to make to with vertically challenged Tabb trying to do his best as a make-shift right back!!

One seriously deluded pillock, who also suffers from selective amnesia. Good riddance.

His remarks about our home form are shameful considering he played in the majority of those home loses.
Oh.... and the "Ipswich have spent nearly £10 million on players, Reading have sold nearly £10 million. That tells you everything you need to know." remarks. tell me Liam, at this precise moment where about in the league are you??

Still a good player though before these comments I would have welcomed him back in a Reading shirt had it not worked out for him at Ipswich but not now. I think he'd struggle to get signed by a premier league side so he'll have to get used to cost cutting championship clubs who won't pay him £15-£20k per week!
