Liam Rosenior can play against Reading FC for Ipswich Town

Liam Rosenior will be eligible to play against his parent club Reading when Ipswich Town visit Madejski Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

The Reading Post can reveal that the two clubs were initially working on a permanent deal for the 25-year-old right-back, but just hours before the move was being finalised on deadline day, Rosenior had a change of heart.

Rosenior is out of contract this summer and it is believed he wanted to keep his options open by going on loan at Portman Road, where he has impressed since moving to Suffolk.

Royals decided not to impose a clause in his deal as they didn’t want to jeopardise the move so late in the day.

Instead, they received a loan fee from Ipswich of around £200,000.

If Rosenior signs a permanent deal at the club this summer, Reading are expected to get another cash windfall for the defender.

Rosenior along with James Harper, who is on loan at Sheffield United, was one of the highest earners at the club and both moves were motivated by the need for Royals to reduce their wage bill.

Since joining Ipswich Rosenior has started 10 games under manager Roy Keane and scored once.

Rosenior told the Post after what was to be his last game for Reading up at Barnsley: “I think there’s always going to be rumours about Reading players.

“I think we’ve all got good reputations thanks to the last manager (Steve Coppell) and the coaching we had. But I just want to go up with Reading, that’s all I want to do.

“I don’t want to go anywhere and have no interest in going anywhere, maybe it shows I’m doing a half decent job here, but I’ve got no interest in moving.

“I’m still young and I want to be in the Premier League, but I want to be in the Premier League with Readng.”

good luck Rosie i like your commet on playing for reading in the premier league, lets hope it will come true along with Harps as i dont think he is happy with the blades. You both deserve to play for Reading again although i know you have a few feelings about the way that you left us. But we need a few players with experience to help us build a squad. Good luck to you and Harps I love you both take care.

ipswich can have him, we dont play long ball anymore;)

and will he get a bad reception? if the majority of fans read in the paper him saying 'ipswich is a bigger club than reading and thats why im here' then yes he will get bad reception!

Quite. Every other club can manage this clause....except Reading.

I don't think he should get a good reception i read on www.teamtalk.com in an interview he done with the east anglian daily times that he should have researched his move to Reading and that the the last few years were a bit wasted. IMO thats him saying he thinks he was to good for Reading...

I'm not someone that boo's players and wouldn't him, but it doesn't really bother me if he gets a good reception or not...

Cant see a problem he wont be coming back to us so dont matter if he plays against us he has nothing to prove ,was ok for us but thats in the past ,we should worry about OUR players getting right on the day ,not oposition players .
