Watford striker Tamas Priskin linked with Reading FC

Striker Tamas Priskin has been quoted as saying he would welcome a reunion with former boss Rodgers following his switch from the Hornets to Madejski Stadium last month.

The Hungarian hot-shot who smashed in 14 goals last season has just one year left on his contract at Vicarage Road, despite being offered a new deal last season.

The 23-year-old who signed for Watford from Győri ETO FC in the Hungarian top division told Hungarian sports paper Nemzeti Sport that he was also happy in Hertfordshire.

He said: "I wouldn't mind working with my previous trainer (Rodgers) again but I'm also happy to stay because Malky Mackay and I were team-mates last year so we have a good relationship.

"My contract will expire in 2010 and I don't have any information about if my club was negotiating my departure with another club.

"I feel very good in Watford. I enjoyed playing football in the last couple of months and after our summer holiday I missed the team and the atmosphere of the club."

Rodgers is still hopeful of landing top-target Tommy Smith from Watford despite a bid of around £750,000 last week being bluntly refused by the club as 'derisory'.

Sheffield United have had a £1.8million offer for the talented 29-year-old accepted by his owners, but 36-year-old Rodgers is confident a deal can still be worked out to bring him to Reading.

Reading are also thought to be monitoring the situation of Leeds United striker Robert Snodgrass who is rated highly at Elland Road.

Stephen Hunt is definitely leaving the club with interest from Sunderland, Wigan and Everton and Andre Bikey is also wanted by Marseille.

With budgets tight Rodgers is expected to use his contacts at former club Chelsea where he was Academy manager and reserve team manager to help snap up Michael Mancienne, Jack Cork or Ryan Bertrand on loan with Tottenham's Danny Rose another player keen to work with Royals' ambitious manager.

why always these watford rubbish - they've played at watford for a little while now and are proven at this level as being average at best. I saw watford when they came to mad.stad. last term against a reading side that at best could be described as mediocre, and got hammered. can this be that sjm has got all the monies back with interest now that he's 'invested' so now we have to settle for purse strings being tighten year on year and follow that great model club like sjm's favourite quote 'charlton' into league 1 and beyond. SIR JOHN MADJESKI WHERE IS YOUR AMBITION?

He's probably worth about £900k, so we'll be offering around £200k I wouldve thought!....Robert Snodgrass, good northern name, not really heard much about him, but I know Jermaine Beckford is available! but maybe bit like Leroy in some respects.
