I scored, did I?

Noel Hunt has bagged half-a-dozen goals since joining Reading in the summer – but can only remember notching five of them.

The Irish striker suffered concussion scoring the opener in Reading’s hard-fought 3-1 win over Burnley last Saturday – and was also hit by a worrying loss of memory.

Talking at the Royals’ training ground, the 25-year-old said: “I don’t remember any of Saturday at all – getting up in the morning or going to bed, nothing at all.

“I saw the game for the first time on Monday on DVD, and it was such a strange feeling – seeing myself playing in a game and scoring a good goal without having any recollection of it whatsoever.”

Hunt tried to play on after his clash of heads with Burnley’s Clarke Carlisle, but was substituted 10 minutes later.

His replacement Shane Long scored Royals’ third goal of the afternoon to seal a victory that leaves Steve Coppell’s men just three points off the top of the Coca-Cola Championship table.

Hunt, though, has no recollection of going out with Long later that evening.

He said: “I remember waking up on Sunday morning at Shane’s house. He says I went out with him and his family on Saturday night, but I don’t remember it.

“I rang my parents on Sunday morning to tell them I was ok, and then rang them again five minutes later because I didn’t know that I’d already spoken to them.”

Hunt was also unaware that his elder brother Stephen was away on international duty.

He said: “I didn’t know that Stephen had gone away to Ireland, or even why I was in Reading. It was a strange feeling.”

Don't worry Noel, sounds like my average Saturday night - you've just added a few more hours to it. Did you wake up with a road cone? Me too - worrying, aint it?
