Sam Sodje has today joined Reading’s Championship rivals Watford on a month’s loan.

The 29-year-old central defender has struggled to break into the first team since arriving at Madejski Stadium from Brentford two years ago, and has made just three league appearances for the Royals.

Sodje has previously linked up with ex-Royals boss Alan Pardew in a loan spell at Charlton, and also went on loan to Premiership new boys West Brom.

He has yet to play this season, but was on the bench for Reading’s 6-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship and their Carling Cup third-round exit at Stoke City in midweek.

Sodje goes straight into the Watford squad for their game against  Sheffield United at Bramall Lane tomorrow.
