It’s back to business for goal ace Lita

Leroy Lita has urged his team-mates to forget about last season’s disappointments and focus on mounting a swift return to the Premier League.

The Royals striker suffered a frustrating campaign last time around as he was shipped out on loan to Charlton Athletic before returning to Madejski Stadium to try and help keep the club in the top flight.

Those attempts proved unsuccessful and Steve Coppell’s men are now preparing for life in the Championship.

But Lita told the Evening Post: “I’m back now, training every day, working hard and I’m just looking forward to the games.

“It is going to be a tough season, but we still have some more pre-season matches and I am looking forward to them.

“I have had a good break, I really enjoyed it, but it’s back to business now.

“We have to get over relegation and and think about the task ahead now.

“What has happened has happened, we can’t do anything about it so we have to forget it.”

Reading romped to the Championship title last time they were in this division three seasons ago, but Lita warned: “We have won the Championship before, but that means nothing, that’s in the past and we have to make sure we’re ready for it.

“Pre-season is going well. I feel good, but I never have a problem in pre-season and when the games start I always look forward to them.”

I'm glad that there hasn't been too much transfer speculation with Lita - we need him to stay and hopefully form a partnership with Doyle or Long.
