Prices cut by nearly a quarter

21/ 5/2008

Reading FC have announced that season-ticket prices will be slashed by nearly 25per cent.

While supporters enjoyed visits of the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea  during the last campaign they will now be watching Royals play more unfashionable clubs like Barnsley, Burnley and Swansea.

And as a result, prices have predictably come down.

Chairman John Madejski said: “We  have reduced them by nearly 25per cent and that equates to £120 (season ticket) off the price and putting seats down to £23.”

Despite the reduction in prices, demand is expected to fall.

Reading sold all 18,000 of the available season-tickets last season, but that could fall by half this summer.

However, chief executive Nigel Howe said: “I think we had 9,000 when we went up so I would like to think we will have well over 10,000.”
