Snow once again threatens Ascot United's FA Vase tie this weekend

Ascot United's rearranged FA Vase fourth round tie with Borrowash Victoria this Saturday will once again depend on the weather after the East Midlands outfit announced its pitch will undergo an inspection on Friday.

With the playing surface at the Watkinson Construction Bowl already under a blanket of think snow and more inclement weather expected in the region before Saturday's fixture, both teams must now await the decision of an inspection which will take place at middy tomorrow.

Freezing conditions in Derbyshire put paid to the contest being played last weekend, but with suggestions as much as five centimetres of snow is on its way may see the tie put back for another week.

A statement on the Borrowash Victoria website said: "Due to the on-going poor weather the Borrowash pitch will be inspected at noon on Friday.

"As of Thursday, there was still snow on the ground and fresh snow falling. This is on top of the sub-zero temperatures that have kept the playing surface solid for most of the week.

"A change in the weather is forecast on Friday, but this may be proceeded by another band of snow."

Should the game be postponed, the Yellamen have agreed to fulfil their Hellenic Premier Division fixture at Reading Town on Saturday, provided the Scours Lane pitch is deemed playable.
