Bishops Cleeve FC 6 Bracknell Town FC 1By Darrell Freeland

The FA Cup dream is over for Bracknell Town for another year as Southern League side Bishops Cleeve dumped them out of the competition at the first qualifying round stage.
Having twice defeated opposition from one division higher than themselves, the Robins travelled to Gloucestershire with high hopes, but the two-division barrier proved too big an obstacle to beat.
New signing Lee Riddell had the only real first-half opportunity for the visitors in the 13th minute, but he couldn’t make clean contact with the ball and missed the target.
Aside from this early foray forward, it was one-way traffic as the hosts sent in wave after wave of attack.
The first goal came on 32 minutes as Michael Tambling unleashed an unstoppable 25-yard diagonal drive which picked out the far corner.
Carl Brown headed his side further ahead following Michael Davis’ corner, before Tambling crossed for Brown who shinned the ball over Dexter Burt to make it 3-0 at the break.
The second half started as the first half ended as Alex Luis underhit a back pass with Tambling racing in to beat Burt at the near post.
Sankoh made it five goals on the hour as he skipped past two Bracknell players, cut in from the right and again picked out the near corner.
Substitute Scott Williams was unlucky not to pull a goal back as he acrobatically met Sam Barratt’s cross, but with goalkeeper James Nortei beaten, he watched the ball cannon back of the crossbar which was still wobbling a few seconds afterwards.
The scoring was completed 12 minutes from time as again the Robins failed to clear their lines and Lee Davis was on hand to drill in through a wall of bodies with Burt unsighted.
It was a sense of bitter disappointment at the final whistle for Bracknell, who couldn’t deal with a rampant Cleeve side but who gave the hosts a massive helping hand with their fundamental errors.
Two wins in this competition is a good achievement for a step six non-league side so they should be proud of their earlier efforts.
However, there's more FA competition this weekend as Bracknell travel to Kidlington on Saturday looking to start another cup run in the FA Vase.
