A late winner from Sammel Williams helped Goring United cause an upset in the Berkshire Trophy Centre Intermediate Cup final.
The Reading Football League Division 1 side beat Premier Division opponents Westwood United Reserves to clinch the trophy in dramatic fashion.
The deadlock between the two teams – who ironically swap divisions next season, with Westwood suffering relegation and Goring sealing promotion with a second place finish – was broken by the latter in the 10th minute, with Sam Green firing home.
The two teams then traded chances before Daniel Nicholson levelled matters.
A tense and tight affair looked destined for extra-time before the intervention of Williams.
His 87th-minute strike sparked scenes of jubilation among the Goring faithful who had made their way over to Scours Lane to witness the occasion. It was a busy weekend for the club, with sides also competing for the Berkshire Trophy Centre Junior Cup and The Treasurers Cup.
