Bracknell Town FC 0 Ascot United FC 3By Darrell Freeland

After the lord mayor’s show at the weekend, it was a comedy show at Larges Lane on Tuesday evening as Bracknell Town’s awful defending allowed Ascot United to ease to victory with three second-half goals.
The first half was a scrappy affair.
Liam Woozley headed wide early on for the home side while Tom Nugent’s lob attempt straight at goalkeeper Chris Grace was their only shot on target.
John Bennett twice got in for United, but saw his first effort blocked by Dave Hancock before he beat Hancock and Greg Smith, but fired wide left with the goal gaping.
Paul McGrotty climbed high to meet Lee Boon’s corner, but he couldn’t hit the target with his header as the first half petered out.
Ascot took the lead two minutes after the break
Boon’s corner was headed in by the excellent Jesse Wilson who found himself in an acre of space.
McGrotty doubled the lead with a free header from another Boon corner in the 67th minute and it was game over for the hosts.
Bennett looked like he wouldn’t get on the scoresheet after he was denied by a fine one-handed Chris Adams save, but the striker had the last word with the final goal on 77 minutes.
Dave Hancock’s header sold Adams short and Bennett pounced to flick the ball pass the keeper and slot the ball into an empty net.
A very disappointing night for Bracknell who failed to get any momentum going against a hard-working Ascot side.
Basement-side Pegasus Juniors visit Larges Lane this weekend having won when the sides met in Herefordshire earlier this season.
Ascot, meanwhile, are at home to Thame United on Saturday, but first host Old Woodstock Town tonight (7.45pm kick-off).
