Wokingham turned in another excellent performance to come away with a share of the points from Hellenic Premier Division high-fliers Wantage Town on Tuesday evening.
The game was played at a furious pace with Wantage enjoying plenty of possession.
They also enjoyed the better of the chances in the first half with Wokingham keeper Stuart Harris doing well to deny Tom Rowe, Danny Keen and Graham Edney.
The first half ended with Dean Thomas creating Wokingham’s best chance as he raced past a couple of defenders but his effort was saved.
Wokingham started the second half in positive fashion with Ben Dearlove firing over and Luke Lee shooting just wide.
With the Wokingham defence giving very little away, the only let off they had all night was in the 81st minute when Harris fumbled a cross, but Keen’s resulting shot hit the bar.
Wokingham defended brilliantly to collect a well deserved point, and in doing so they became the first side this season to prevent Wantage from scoring at home in the league this season.
Manager Roger Herridge said: “I thought we were magnificent this evening, this was an excellent result we had to work really hard for.
“Although they had more possession they really didn’t create a lot in front of goal, a credit to our defending.
“To take four points out of six against a top side is an outstanding achievement.”
