Danny Isaiew hit a hat-trick as Woodley Town eased into the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup fourth round with a comprehensive victory over Binfield Reserves.
The opening half hour saw Binfield, who had beaten Reading Football League sides West Reading and Theale to reach this stage, play some good football, but with most of it in their own half they carried little threat to Town’s goal.
And it was the home team who had the best two chances during this period with Richard Thomas driving wide from a Luke Williams cross on five minutes followed by Jamie Fairchild missing soon after.
The deadlock was broken after 32 minutes when good wide play by Williams saw him cross low from the left for Isaiew to score from close-range at the far post.
Isaiew doubled the lead six minutes later when he reacted quickest to a free-kick taken on the edge of the Binfield penalty area after the impressive Dan Jewell had been upended.
An injury to Adam Jeffrey saw Sam Cripps introduced on the right wing for the start of the second half and his powerful runs into the Binfield half saw Cripps being instrumental in much of Town's second-half play.
Binfield’s Jamie Halsall parried a Jamie Connor effort back to the Woodley player, but he could only fire the rebound wide as the hosts piled on the pressure.
Nick Edwards twice blazed over from close-range, Halsall made a fine one handed save from Cripps, while Warren Baxter was denied his first competitive goal for the club when his header was cleared off the line.
Among this activity Williams added a third for Town on 52 minutes when good passing throughout the team saw the winger drive low to Halsall's left from the edge of the area.
Cripps and Williams started to stretch the defence and that allowed Isaiew to complete his hat-trick from a tight angle with 17 minutes remaining to make it 4-0.
Fairchild added number five from close-range following another Williams cross eight minutes from time, before substitute Paul Holloway completed the scoring three minutes later after a powerful run to net his first goal for the club.
