Binfield’s FA Vase run is over after a 1-0 defeat at struggling Combined Counties Division 1 side Frimley Green, ending the Moles’ 18-match unbeaten run in the process.

Steve McClurg’s side had not lost in the Hellenic League Division 1 East or cup matches and were the favourites going into the encounter, but were undone by a third-minute goal and were unable to claw their way back.

Garry Sargeant saw his header go over the bar with the open goal at his mercy as Moles saw their Vase dreams disappear in their debut year in the competition.

Sandhurst Town also exited 2-1 at the hands of Hellenic Premier high-flyers Witney United.

Ascot United kept up the pace with Hellenic Division 1 East leaders Wokingham & Emmbrook with a 3-1 win at Launton Sports thanks to Andy Lunn, Sam McIntyre and Jon Bennett.

Wokingham scored a 1-0 win at Kintbury Rangers, while Finchampstead drew 2-2 at Penn & Tylers Green.

Bracknell Town were left frustrated at home to Slough Town in the Berkshire derby on Saturday as both sides left with a share of the spoils following a 0-0 draw at Larges Lane in the British Gas Business League Division 1 South & West.

Nathan Jack nearly fired Bracknell ahead, but his curling shot rebounded off the post before Yashwa Romeo was thwarted by in-form Robins keeper Max Aneke.

The second period saw Slough hold the lion’s share of possession, but it was Bracknell who created the chances, with Jack breaking clear twice and Errol Telemaque seeing his shot flash across the face of goal.
