26/ 8/2008

Former Maidenhead United goalkeeper Chico Ramos endured a torrid time at Larges Lane as his Windsor & Eton side lost beaten 3-2 to Bracknell Town in the British Gas Division 1 South & West yesterday.

Robins’ Keith Newby opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Ben Edwards had been felled on 23 minutes.

It was all square 10 minutes later, though, before young striker Ian Harvey put the Robins back in front on 53 minutes.

And it was 3-1 with 20 minutes to go, thanks to Ben Edwards’ looping header . Bracknell were under the cosh from then on, but held out despite Ben Porter’s stunning strike three minutes from time.

Combined Counties side Sandhurst Town’s first win of the season came in of a 4-3 success at home to Hartley Wintney.

Binfield and Finchampstead shared the spoils at Stubbs Lane in a 1-1 draw, Garry Sargeant striking for Moles and Danny Isaiew replying.

Saturday's local football

Sam Dennison and Steve Curtis struck twice in the opening half hour to give Ascot United a 2-1 win at home to Thame United, while Binfield and Newbury played out a 2-2 draw at Stubbs Lane on Saturday.

Tim Walsh and Scott Williams struck for Moles, with Adam Kingsbeer and Jack Smillie replying for Newbury.

Finchampstead defied their lowly position to stun Henley Town 5-1 at the Triangle, with striker Dean Thomas hitting a hat-trick for the visitors and Graeme Toomey notching the henley consolation.

Wokingham & Emmbrook continued their winning run with a 4-2 win at home to South Kilburn, thanks to Richard Bland, Shaun Wanklyn and Darren Thorne (2).

Sandhurst Town picked up their first Combined Counties League point of the season with a 2-2 draw at Chessington & Hook United.

Bracknell Town lost 2-1 after a nightmare trip Taunton Town. they got stuck in the Bank Holiday traffic, and heard that striker Dean Thomas and winger Gilbert Nuako have both left the club.

Scott Thomas fired the opener for Taunton on 15 minutes, but midfielder Keith Newby equalised seven minutes later from a free-kick. A draw appeared likely as both sides struggled on pitch that bore more than a resemblance to a lush meadow, but Matt Rawlins got the winner two minutes after the break.

And despite Bracknell creating several clear-cut opportunities, the hosts held on for their first win of the season.
