Reporter Profile: Mad Monk
Friday night. Many of the green army are already in Paris. Me, I am getting up at silly o'clock to catch the Eurostar. Time then to watch Edinburgh - Cardiff before packing my mitre.
It being Sunday we have already witnessed the excitement of the East Midlands derby the day before.
The European campaign started nearly a week ago with Worcester playing on Thursday night. Such are the demands of TV companies. They were playing Stade who as usual wore a florid variation on the theme of pink. It did not stop them punishing a lacklustre Worcester in the first of a string of home defeats.
It being half term the match is a family affair. Mini Monk, Mrs. Monk and friend join me beneath the drummers. They have been given drums as well so my ears are bleeding gently over my blackberry.
Friday I watched brave Wales go down to the Aussies in the morning then the Welsh Exiles fail at the last to hold off Bristol in their Championship campaign.
Saturday. Mrs. Monk told me off for writing off the Wales v France match after the red card.
Saturday. I am up early to watch the World Cup. As a London Irish supporter more London than Irish I support Ireland when they are not playing England and England at all other times. It was not a good morning. Both countries lost. The good news is that we get the rest of our boys back. The bad news is the other clubs do too.
