Businesses get tax delay
June 04, 2009
More than 200 businesses across Bracknell Forest have been giben extra time to pay their taxes.
The tax delay, which is part of the Business Payment Support Service (BPSS) aims to help companies get through the recession.
A total of 210 businesses in the borough have been helped by the service in the first six months since it has been put into place.
Under the scheme, businesses that are genuinely unable to pay and are likely to make a trading loss during the year can get extra time for levies such as corporation tax, PAYE tax, VAT, income tax and national insurance contributions.
Companies enter into a reasonable instalment ‘time to pay’ arrangement.
Stephen Timms, treasury financial secretary, said it was part of the Government’s commitment to help the business community through difficult times.
