A burglar has been jailed and another given a community order for ransacking a Wargrave home.
Christopher Kupiec, 31, of Hazel Road, Purley, will serve two years for his involvement in a burglary in Silverdale Road in October plus six months for his part in the theft of two bronze cannons in Sonning Common in November 2011.
Recorder Nicholas Cole described the scene at the Wargrave home as one of "devastation" in Reading Crown Court this afternoon.
The family estimated their loss in the raid was between £12,000 and £15,000.
Much of the thieves' haul has been recovered by police, including Second World War medals which were returned to the family yesterday.
Peter Cripps, 32, of Romsey Road, Tilehurst, was handed a 12-month community order with a 12-month supervision requirement and a three-month electronically monitored curfew for handling stolen goods and conveyance in a stolen vehicle.
