Woodley Conservative councillors scrap monthly surgeries

By Jon Nurse
March 20, 2013

Town concerns can no longer be raised with Conservative councillors at a monthly surgery after the meetings were branded “outdated”.

Woodley Conservatives have held the surgeries each month at Woodley Library for the last three years, but have scrapped the sessions in light of poor turnouts.

Councillor Keith Baker said: “The monthly surgery is now fundamentally outdated with the use of email and mobile phones. Why wait a month with an issue?”

Cllr Baker estimates no more than 20 people have used the service since 2010.

Well it had to happen !!

The Tories should understand that some people don’t have mobile phones or access to emails and there is a lot to be said for face to face interaction.
