March 15, 2013

A driver is in 'a serious condition' after his car burst into flames last night (Thursday).

The man was taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital after his car came off Lodge Road, Hurst, at 11.40pm.

A police spokesman said his condition was described as serious.

Wokingham fire station's watch manager Neil Polding said the driver was out of the car when the crew arrived.

It took more than an hour for the crew to put out the fire and make the area safe.

Police and ambulance were also on scene and the road was closed until 1am.
