By Jon Nurse
March 14, 2013

Police searching for puppy thieves raided a house in Grazeley.

Officers from Wokingham and West Berkshire police followed intelligence on thefts of puppies in the Thames Valley to an address on Tuesday.

The house was searched and a number of animals were examined at the scene however none were found to be stolen.

During the search police recovered gardening tools, believed to be stolen in a burglary in Aylesbury and a theft in Finchampstead in 2010.

A 49-year-old man was arrested in connection with burglary and handling stolen goods and is now on bail.

If you have any information regarding the theft of dogs or anything else ring police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A look on Facebook shows countless groups set up to report and share information on stolen dogs. I cannot think of anything more despicable than stealing an innocent animal to either be sold on, used and abused for breeding and then dumped (or worse) or used as fodder for fighting dogs to practice on.

Dog thefts and animal abuse seems to have reached epidemic proportions. But I have yet to read of anyone being brought to justice that has received a suitable punishment. Addressing this and doing something about would be an instant vote winner.
