Piggott School expansion plans up for decision on Wednesday

By Laura Herbert
March 06, 2013

An academy secondary school has applied to build extra classrooms to cope with a projected increase in demand for places.

The Piggott School plans to build a two-storey building for maths classrooms, a science lab, toilets, changing rooms and a fitness suite.

The application, which is recommended for approval, is due to be discussed by Wokingham Borough Council’s planning committee tonight.

A report contained in the plans states the new building will update the school’s currently inadequate PE changing and teaching facilities by adding two extra male and female changing rooms, a PE teaching area with fitness equipment, an NVQ football classroom, eight new maths classrooms and two science labs.

The Wargrave Road school was previously granted permission to build a two-storey Sixth Form centre in 2011.

The meeting takes place at the Civic Offices, in Shute End, from 7pm.
